Utah Title & Escrow Commission Market Conduct Investigation
The state’s Title and Escrow Commission is selectively targeting out-of-state title insurers and their agents in an attempt to co-opt the insurance code to shape the competitive landscape of title insurance in the State.

Recently, attorneys for a TAVMA member organization, also engaged by TAVMA to help resolve the matter, filed an official complaint against the Title & Escrow Commission. Click here to view the Civil Review Complaint.

Hawaii Auditor Says AMC Registration Act Unwarranted
The Auditor of the State of Hawaii published its report, Sunrise Analysis: Real Estate Appraisal Management Companies, A Report to the Governor and the Legislature of the State of Hawaii. In accordance with state law in Hawaii, the State Auditor is required to evaluate proposals to regulate previously unregulated professions or vocations prior to enacting such legislation. The Auditor reports that Senate Bill 1606, which would regulate AMCs in the state, is not warranted. The Auditor did, however, add that enactment of the federal Wall Street financial reform bill now requires all states to register and supervise AMCs.
